Another Sneaker Review and it’s a pair of Nike Air Max again. These are the Nike Air Max 90’s: a staple silhouette for Nike. Nike used a visible air unit on the Air Max 1’s for the first time. Just after 3 years of launching the Air Max 1’s in 1987, the Airmax III’s were launched, named as they were the third shoe in the Air Max Line. These were known as Air Max III’s until 2000 from which date they started to be known as Air Max 90’s. Both these silhouettes were designed by the genius architect Tinker Hatfield. The whole idea of using the air cushioning unit revolutionized fashion and technology. And yeah, it could be seen too! Today I am going to talk
about the Air Max 90 LX shoes in Particle Rose, that have been launched in March 2018.
She kept telling me again and again. My dearest friend Krati. “The ‘Rajasthani Dance’ that takes place every day in the late evenings in Udaipur, is not to be missed”. I think it is since my first job days( 2012) that I have been wanting to visit Udaipur. We used to have office transport and one of my colleagues with whom I used to take the transport hailed from Udaipur. He would always talk about the place and show me pictures of the place, food and his beautiful sisters wearing bright lehengas for family gatherings. I would fall in love with the place more and more. I have this affinity towards colors. I love colors. Although I don’t wear them much. And the culture always appealed to me as it seemed way different from mine. Udaipur had been on my bucket list for a long time and since I was anyway traveling to Delhi, I thought of doing a short stopover at the beautiful city of Udaipur.
It was for the second time that Puma India has made me a part of a huge event associated with Sneakers and I couldn’t control my excitement( LINK FOR THE FIRST EVENT HERE and HERE). The event this time was Sneaker Pimps, the famed Sneaker Pimps World Tour which was started way back in 2003 by Peter Fahey. The event was supposed to be held at two locations in India- Pune and Delhi, and I was there; witnessing the journey that would probably shape the sneaker culture of India in the days to come.
How have you been? Guess what, I am back to being consistent talking to you. This in itself feels great. Today let’s go back to the summer of 2016, the year when I started ‘The Velvet Radio’. Many people whom I meet, ask if the name is inspired by the band ‘The Velvet Revolvers’. That’s not really the reason. I started ‘The Velvet Radio’ so that I could write about Fashion and Music, primarily, the two things which I love. Now, I wanted to have a name which would justify the idea behind the blog. Hence, I chose to go with ‘Velvet’ for fashion and ‘Radio’ for music.
It isn’t long that I wrote the article ‘In the shoes of a blogger’. You can see and tell how gruesome the life of a blogger is. Surrounded by negative energy of haters and competitive counterparts, the life of a blogger is pretty mechanical which starts and ends with ‘HOW A BRAND WANTS YOU TO WORK’. I also mentioned how it’s all about the MUTUALISM and that originality and genuineness is going for a toss, well, mostly. Almost everybody is in the tryst of making it big without actually working hard for it.
I remember going through an article when I was in Guwahati, maybe I was doing my engineering then. It read- “My husband sends me to the prostitute house to earn money for his liquor but beats me up if I get a few minutes late from the specified time. He thinks that I start showing interest on my customer.” It also read- “I have undergone 3 abortions and now I don’t even want to have a baby of my own. Although, I know I won’t have a say if my husband wants a child.” Then there was this article on Facebook which popped up on my timeline a few weeks back. It depicted how ugly the life of a sex- worker is and still how contended they sound! Apparently, the vagina of one of the sex workers has got rotten and you could smell it from a distance. Nobody would go near her. But you could hear her prayer recitals. Upon reading the post, I felt I was there and everything was happening in front of my eyes. The misery, the pain, the anxiety and yet not longing for the outside world. Isn’t it owning one’s sexuality?
Back as a kid, there was this art gallery that we used to go to when kins used to visit us. You know, those tourist guide sessions! I could never really comprehend some of the paintings. And I remember trying hard to decode them during the night! It always amazed me how deep an artist’s mind can dive into. How deep can a human mind think of. I have always believed that one’s mind can reach the void- where nothing else can ever be present. Isn’t it beautiful how limitless one can be and one can think of. Coming to digital art, I follow a couple of digital artists including Michael Oswald who transforms real women into crazy illusions. Photoshop art aka digital art is truly a new rage.
A few days back, the bassist of my ex- band CMajor3Minor, who call themselves CYPHER now, has shared the link to the latest song KHUDI of THE LOCAL TRAIN, the winner of the first season of the Sennheiser Top 50. That was a song which kept buzzing on my head for quiet sometime and then one fine morning I got an e- mail from SENNHEISER to write a blogpost on the SEASON 3 TOP 50. Last year’s finalé was one riot of a live performance and this e- mail meant free pass to a great evening filled with alluring performances by some of the really good bands of the country and also catching up with many aspiring musicians and music enthusiasts.
People! So how has the week treated you so far? I watched a Bollywood movie called TRAPPED last night and boy, it was nice. It is starting to get too hot in Bangalore, don’t you feel? Today’s blog is about a few key essentials for summer and how to nail them. We have to admit that we are all big time suckers for some timeless summer pieces like that of a shirt dress or a crop shirt. They basically never go out of trend and you can style them in multiple permutations! The best part is that they can be worn in different weathers with a few layerings done.
