WHAT I WORE TO : AIFW Autumn Winter 2018

I was so excited about it. My very first ‘Amazon India Fashion Week’. I planned all my outfits almost 2 months in advance. I even ordered a couple of accessories from Arunachal Pradesh. The whole idea of being in the Fashion Game makes me wonder why are we even having second thoughts about being a part of an event as big as this. I believe, for somebody like me, who is even remotely associated to the Fashion Game, it’s the only platform in India, where you get to see the upcoming trends, the trends of the next season. Also, it’s the place where you get to meet so many of your favorite designers who inspire you and whose work you really like. Amazon India Fashion Week Spring Summer ’18, that’s what I am talking about.

MEET THE AIR MAX 270

3. 26. 1987. Probably the date sounds familiar to a few. Probably, it is unfamiliar to many of my readers. But then you tell me one thing, if you like something don’t you like to talk about it? With me, the thing is I am quite vocal. Not with everybody, of course. But with a very few, absolutely yes. And this blog, it’s something I am comfortable expressing myself in. The most, actually. Maybe ‘cause it just listens to me without any interruptions. Sometimes you figure out that all you need are a pair of ears. Maybe ‘cause nobody has time on earth to listen to you anymore. Maybe ‘cause everybody is so busy on their respective trains of life. Anyway, let’s get to business. I am going to talk about Sneakers for my love of it. And today is 3. 26. 2018.

SNEAKER PIMPS 2018 | PUNE, INDIA

It was for the second time that Puma India has made me a part of a huge event associated with Sneakers and I couldn’t control my excitement( LINK FOR THE FIRST EVENT HERE and HERE). The event this time was Sneaker Pimps, the famed Sneaker Pimps World Tour which was started way back in 2003 by Peter Fahey. The event was supposed to be held at two locations in India- Pune and Delhi, and I was there; witnessing the journey that would probably shape the sneaker culture of India in the days to come.

WHAT I WORE TO SOLE DXB 2017

It was still fresh in my mind. The RADIO THAT CHANGED LIVES. And also, the documentaries on Street Culture that I have watched with my Bangalore folks. It is not from where you start, it is about how you keep at it, your passion you know! How you try to establish your identity. Now that this is one of the major issues I see prevailing in our society. Identity Crisis. A world that is moving so fast, a platform is definitely required such that like minded people can come together and exchange their views and ideas. The documentary sessions that we have in Bangalore is one such platform. Think how exciting Sole DXB was, with thousands of people with similar interests and zeal.  The liberating feeling of meeting the icons I have only seen inside my laptop or the television, for example, the duo of hiphop radio who changed the lives and launched the careers of many unsigned artists, only to become hiphop legends in the days to come!

SIGNATURE STYLE CO-ORDINATES

Now, a lot of people try to play the trend game but if you’re playing by its rules, it is really tough to keep at it. It isn’t a bad thing at all unless you are consistent with your style(and work) and are ready to spend half(or maybe more) of your salary on buying new ins of the market. But if you stick to the norms of your signature style and experiment around it, I believe you won’t be at loss. If you know what looks best on you then it’s easy to avoid spending your precious greens on. Although, style is dynamic and sticking to one’s signature style is difficult but one can always come up with a signature style of his own with the change in weather, season or age! Today, I thought of sharing what my signature style looks like ’cause you can tell I am one of those stupid narcissists you have always hated!

A HANDFUL DARK CLOUDS

THE VELVET RADIO, SHIVANI BORUAH, Blogger, blog, Northeast, assam, India, bangalore, Travel, Delhi, Dilli, TravelBlogger, travelblog, backpacking, AIFW, Fashion Week, Amazon, Feminism, Poet, Author, pantene, Advertisement, Clouds

When I opened the door of my balcony the other day, it was a cool breeze that greeted me. A breeze I have been missing. It spoke a thousand words reminding me of my childhood days, back home in
Arunachal Pradesh where the breeze would pierce the soft cheeks at times. A hurtful pleasure you’d want. The weather is getting transitioned. Winter is here, finally. Then there was this day when the sky was full of clouds. There were very dark. And gloomy. As if nature was upset. Upset of the unwary things. But yeah, the dark clouds apparently welcomed winter. And with it comes the extra worry of taking care of our mane – with problems like dandruff, dry hair and frizziness kicking in, Pantene comes as a savior in the form of the New Oil Replacement.

HOW REAL IS THE UNREAL WORLD

THE VELVET RADIO, SHIVANI BORUAH, Blogger, blog, Northeast, assam, India, bangalore, Travel, Delhi, Dilli, TravelBlogger, travelblog, backpacking, AIFW, Fashion Week, Amazon, Feminism, Poet, Author, Unreal

It isn’t long that I wrote the article ‘In the shoes of a blogger’. You can see and tell how gruesome the life of a blogger is. Surrounded by negative energy of haters and competitive counterparts, the life of a blogger is pretty mechanical which starts and ends with ‘HOW A BRAND WANTS YOU TO WORK’. I also mentioned how it’s all about the MUTUALISM and that originality and genuineness is going for a toss, well, mostly. Almost everybody is in the tryst of making it big without actually working hard for it.

SONG OF THE CAGED BIRD

I remember going through an article when I was in Guwahati, maybe I was doing my engineering then. It read- “My husband sends me to the prostitute house to earn money for his liquor but beats me up if I get a few minutes late from the specified time. He thinks that I start showing interest on my customer.” It also read- “I have undergone 3 abortions and now I don’t even want to have a baby of my own. Although, I know I won’t have a say if my husband wants a child.” Then there was this article on Facebook which popped up on my timeline a few weeks back. It depicted how ugly the life of a sex- worker is and still how contended they sound! Apparently, the vagina of one of the sex workers has got rotten and you could smell it from a distance. Nobody would go near her. But you could hear her prayer recitals. Upon reading the post, I felt I was there and everything was happening in front of my eyes. The misery, the pain, the anxiety and yet not longing for the outside world. Isn’t it owning one’s sexuality?

AIFW SS18: I WAS THERE!

THE VELVET RADIO, SHIVANI BORUAH, Blogger, blog, Northeast, assam, India, bangalore, Travel, Delhi, Dilli, TravelBlogger, travelblog, backpacking, AIFW, Fashion Week, Amazon

Alright. Where shall I begin? From the DAY 1 of Amazon India Fashion Week? Aah, if I have to document the fashion week, it would be incomplete if I don’t mention the past days or the weeks before! Or maybe last year! So yeah, after I started TVRadio last year, there were 2 AIFWs and 2 LFWs and maybe 2 Bangalore Fashion Weeks as well( Before TVRadio was launched, although I was very much interested in these so-called fashion weeks, I wasn’t really following them religiously). Every time some blogger would post the pictures of ‘WHAT I WORE TO AIFW’, I would so dearly want to go to the fashion week.

A SUNSET IN MOROCCO

THE VELVET RADIO, SHIVANI BORUAH, Blogger, blog, Northeast, assam, India, bangalore, sunset, Morocco, India, LOVE

Recently, I figured out something new about myself. I realized that unknowingly, I collect sunsets. This might be due to the fact that waking up to a beautiful sunrise and grabbing the morning cup of green tea isn’t practical anymore. I also realized that I always try to reach office as early as possible although my timings are flexible and I can afford to wake up late- unknowingly though, I like to reach home early so as to enjoy the setting sun with my little pooch! But due to heightened traffic conditions these days, I only get to see the warm colors of the setting sun while I am in the cab on my way back home. Why is it that our eyes get glued to the radiating hues of the sunset and we get transported to an enchanted universe?
