Inspired: Coachella.

I realize I haven’t posted any Saree Look yet. I also realize that I haven’t had any posts about one of the talked- about Music and Arts Festival of the year- Coachella. So, I decided to combine both of them and come up with a look. All of you, who thought ‘Saree’ is an ethnic wear, give it a second thought guys… You can actually wear it to a Music Festival. You don’t believe me? Check out this post!

Now, talking about the theme- What is Coachella? Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival commonly referred to as Coachella or Coachella Festival is an annual music and arts festival, founded by Paul Tollett in 1999 and organised by Goldenvoice at the Empire Polo Club in Coachella Valley in the Colorado Desert, California. The event features many genres of music such as rock, indie, hip hop as well as electronic dance music. Till date many great bands have played in this Festival including some of my favourites- Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Rage Against The machine, Radiohead, Coldplay, etc.

The highlight of Coachella 2016 was ‘ACDC’ declaring ‘Guns and Roses’ vocalist- Axl Rose as their vocalist.

In addition to Music, the festival is also famous for showcasing Visual Arts including Installation Art and Sculptures, many of which are a visual treat to the attendees. Also, below are a few of my favourite looks from the festival.

Now coming to my attire, I am wearing this Orange Kimono of mine as a Blouse to this White and Green Saree which I bought for this look, well, on a heavy discounted price! Since, the theme is Coachella, hence goes my messy hair with the Black-Roses headband. Boots, again ’cause it is a Music Festival based theme! I am wearing silver bracelets and anklet(payal, to be precise) matching the silver coin necklace…Well, I know I need to buy a few new pieces of silver jewellery!! And to add to this Coachella-ic look, there goes my Fringe Bag. And last, but not least, my round glasses to complete the look. Check out the pictures below!

Let me give you a little detail on how did I drape my Saree. Well, the style is actually that of a gujarati style saree but instead of covering up the blouse by the pallu, I have wrapped the pallu around my neck so that the Kimono-blouse is visible properly.
Below are the steps which you might like to make a note of:
1. Take the saree and tuck the end of the saree (non- pallu end) on the right side and bring it around the waist to the back side, tuck it in fully while doing the same.
2. Bring it towards the front again and leave some length of fabric and tuck on the left waist. Bring the saree around the person and bring to the front again from the backside.
3. Make pleats on the pallu or keep it messy, like I did, and wrap it around your neck( how you wrap a scarf) such that the design of the blouse is properly visible.
Instead of styling the Saree this way for a Music Festival, you can also style the Saree in a similar way if you are wearing a Designer Blouse with a beautiful design on the frontside, so that the pallu doesn’t cover the design of the blouse.
