After the harsh winter and the almost- nil spring, here in bangalore, layering in summer is the last thing you’d like to talk about. In fact, many of you might even nod your head in disbelief when I say layering can be done in summer too(Yes, kill me in this heat!).
People! So how has the week treated you so far? I watched a Bollywood movie called TRAPPED last night and boy, it was nice. It is starting to get too hot in Bangalore, don’t you feel? Today’s blog is about a few key essentials for summer and how to nail them. We have to admit that we are all big time suckers for some timeless summer pieces like that of a shirt dress or a crop shirt. They basically never go out of trend and you can style them in multiple permutations! The best part is that they can be worn in different weathers with a few layerings done.
The sound of crickets. Silent walks. Small discussions. Hot and scorching sun. The breeze in the evening. Hanging clothes, dancing on the ropes. Tender coconuts and Aampanna. The sudden drizzle in the afternoons. The crowd at the Puchka shop. The TRINGG of the icecream guy. Tall trees and a bunch of birds. Dry throats and rooh-abza in the refrigerator. Sticky skin and long hours in the shower. It is all about the unnoticed passage of time. The unnoticed transition. Winter, and now summer, already!
Have you ever had those mornings when you are lying on the bed in your nightsuit or pyjamas and you keep planning about the OOTD, for like 10 minutes? The outfit looks great in your head while you plan it, but upon putting it together, it doesn’t seem too appealing. But what happens when you are already running late? The next time it happens to you, I have got a fool proof plan that would steal the deal.
When you are collaborating with a brand like BEWAKOOF.com, you’re sure to experiment to the craziest level of ‘Bewakoofiyaan‘ . It’s all about how you let yourself flow( Yeah Baby!) and not restrict yourself to the ‘Oh! Are you sure about this?’ Although, I planned on styling this jacket in a lot of other ways, this is what I finally came up with!
Humming the song ‘Comfortably Dumb’ by one of the greatest Funk Bands of all time- Extreme while writing this. It was the first weekend after my accident, that I went for an outdoor photo shoot with this beautiful couple- Justin & Priyanka Jacob. I remember waking up early in the morning and happily wearing my make- up. The styling for these plaid pants was already planned during my (ETERNAL) bedrest. Actually upon receiving the parcel containing these pants, I knew I had to be a scoolboy for them. The previous night I had shot the series – FRIDA ( you might have seen already ),and, I think it’s one of the best works that I have put forward. I was content in the morning. And I believe that’s what is important when you are out for a shoot- a happy mood and a lot of focus!
You know, off late, I have not been accessing my Facebook much. The reason? Whenever I open my account, the only notifications that pop up nowadays are: ENGAGEMENT, WEDDING, MEHENDI, BACHELORETTE PARTIES, HONEYMOON TRIPS, RECEPTION and such BLAH BLAHs! Although weddings are celebrated with such hype in a country like India, it being one of the important rituals, it always leaves a big hole in my pocket! (Let’s not talk about how irritated I get seeing such notifications, no offenses!) If you have to attend, say 3-4 weddings or engagements or bachelorette parties, you are definitely not supposed to repeat your gowns or lehengas, you know, for the sake of publishing in Social Media! Yes, you got me! So how do we deal with it then?
How have you been doing? Girbosses, eh? Now recently, Bewakoof.com , actually THE bewakoof.com contacted me for a collaboration and I couldn’t be happier. I can tell each one of us has atleast one thing from this brand- maybe a mobile cover, a pair of quirky shorts or a sweatshirt! Everyone? But while approaching me, they asked me to blog about a different apparel altogether and I chose to pick this pair of RAT- CHEESE PYJAMAS!! I am a little choosy on stuff, I know. But when I check something out, I try to visualize the idea and this is what I thought of when I checked out the official website of Bewakoof.com.
Hoping that everyone is in high spirits and also it being a Saturday today, all of you must be in a party mood!
Recently, Cosmopolitan India have organised a Digital Contest(Instagram Contest) across India called ‘GenGirlIndia’ in which I had taken part and surprisingly(and luckily, of course) I could bag the award. Being the winner of the contest I could shop from the brand- BCBGeneration, oh yes, the very famous ‘Gen Girl’ Brand from New York, USA. The brand has recently launched it’s store in Bangalore, at VR Mall Whitefield- the so called Black Box.
I hope you have had a look at my earlier post featuring 6 different bloggers. Also, hope that it helped you to curate one of the looks from the bloggers- ‘Be Your Own Goddess‘. Okay, now coming to this one, so, tell me what time of the year is this? Isn’t it the time of lights and crackers- YES, Diwali time it is! I really miss home and my family during such celebrations and time of festivity. Since 3 years I could not go home during Diwali or Durga Puja(Dussehra) due to some or the other reason. As I write this blogpost, tears tend to roll down my eyes. I feel, the time when I was there with my family all these years, I didn’t value those moments much or maybe I didn’t respect such festivals much. I hardly used to go out and I was a very introvert person. Things haven’t changed much though, I still don’t go out much or celebrate all the festivals with zeal and high spirits. But I really crave to be with my family at the time of festivities. The look at my mom’s new Mekhela Chadar(Assamese traditional wear), my dad’s lame jokes(which he cracks almost all the time) and my brother’s firecrackers!
